About AI Companion Desk

AI Companion Desk is an independent guide to AI companion, AI girlfriend and adult AI chat apps. Reviews are published under the byline Adrian Wells, the pen name of the site's lead editor.

Why this site exists

Almost every "best AI companion" list online is ranked by affiliate payout, not quality. Apps that pay the most commission mysteriously land at #1. This site ranks by a fixed comparison framework instead — and says plainly when an app is a cash grab, even when it pays us.

How we evaluate apps

• Published pricing. Every plan, credit system and renewal price, checked against the app's own pricing page and dated.
• Feature documentation. Memory, image and voice capabilities, character tools and content policy, from the product's own documentation and changelogs.
• Public user feedback. Recurring themes from real users — what breaks, what disappoints in month two, what people cancel over.
• Five scored criteria. Conversation features, memory, customization, value for money, and privacy controls.
• Re-checks. Rankings and reviews are updated when apps ship major model, pricing or policy changes.

We do not claim hands-on testing we have not done. Where coverage is research-based, our methodology says exactly what that means.

How we make money

Some links on this site are affiliate links — if you subscribe through them, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This never changes a score or a ranking position. When the best app in a category has no affiliate program, it still ranks #1.
